The good thing about my blogging hiatus...

is that I have a backlog of art.  I really liked the way this turned out..

Somethings shouldn't take me as long as they do.  Like this.  Very simple, nothing complicated.

I'm often asked how long it takes me to paint something.  I never try to be elusive, but I seriously don't know how to answer that.  I'll paint for a while, walk away to let a portion dry, come back and change something.  I may like it & keep going or hate it and start over completely.  I may whip out a seemingly complex painting in no time, or I may spend an eternity on something like this.  If I had to guess on this one.... probably 8 hours total.

If I'm not in the middle of a baby-boom, I'm not sure who is.  This year alone, 10 of my friends/family have been/are pregnant.  Two of which are my sister-in-laws and four of them are some of my closest friends:

Anyhow,  I've had a lot of opportunities to paint kid stuff lately.
I rarely paint furniture, so I really enjoyed this simple little project:
I've been into patterns lately and decided to stick with that.
And some of my old pieces for good measure...

Red, White, & Baby...

Today will mark the arrival of our third niece, Anna Beatrice Boucek (aka Anna Bea).  We are absolutely thrilled & can't wait to meet her this afternoon.  She'll only be in Georgia for about a month before the Bouceks move to Virginia, so we're going to get our kisses in while we can.

In only 18 more days, we'll be welcoming our third nephew into the world.  Which means another nursery painting!  Hutson Harvery's nursery is decked out in pale blue with red accents.  His mom found a Pottery Barn wall decal that she wanted painted on canvas....

This weekend will be action packed with babies, a Braves game, and a Fourth of July celebration on the lake with good friends.  We've got Old Glory flying and we're ready
to celebrate our country's independence.
Happy 4th to you & yours!

**Skylarcation is officially over.  We wrapped up the event with a trip to the skating rink: which included a possibly broken tale bone for the guest of honor and a large blister on the toe of hostess #1.  Pictures will hopefully follow next week, courtesy of hostess #2.**

On the Block...

The vintage (2008) monkey painting is now available on etsy!

My third niece, Anna Bea, is scheduled to arrive in less than 2 weeks.
She's going to be using her big sister's bedding
and needed her very own painting.
Remember Hendley's nursery?
Back in 2007 her mama wanted me to paint the bunnies above based on a
painting that she fell in love with (I've searched for this
artist, to give proper credit, but have been unable to locate).  She went with the
"why mess with a good thing" motto & ordered more bunnies.
They're slightly tweaked, but basically the same.
