A few months back I had an order for painted frames to be bridesmaid's gifts.  The bride had specific things she wanted for each girl.....

They were a fun change of pace!

It's official!

Edith is now a member of the Trier family.

You may recall the paintings I did of the 3 Trier pups last year:

The Triers have a big soft place in their hearts for dogs & are among the few that can actually foster rescue pups (I don't know about you, but I certainly couldn't do that).  Anyhow, Edith was a foster pup who didn't get adopted, so they decided to go ahead & adopt the gal themselves.
Now her portrait will be added to the family wall!

This one wasn't easy for me.....
I received a request for a particular hole that someone is getting married at.  She sent several pictures of this hole & everyone looked different to me.  Yet oddly the same.  I stared at the pictures & just couldn't process them.  It was like trying to read a foreign language.

I've only been on a golf course twice, and I must admit I was driving a beer cart both times.  I'm not competitive, I don't get sports, and quiet frankly, I don't care for them.  But, I do like a challenge when I paint, so I jumped right in.

I'm guessing this isn't what the customer had in mind, but I actually like it.  I have no reason to hang a golf picture in my house, but I'd consider this one.  It might be on etsy soon if it isn't well received.

The Williamsons are some of my favorite people on the planet.  They order a lot of stuff from me & their requests are never dull.  Case in point:

Zack's brother's cat passed away this year.  Yes, it's hairless.  As a memorial, he has now been captured on canvas.

Facebook....

I was resistant to joining for quiete sometime.  I'm not sure why now, but I was.  Through FB I've reconnected with a lot of old friends that I probably would not have otherwise.  Laura is one of them.  I haven't talked to her since college, so about 8 years.

She and her family recently moved to a new house & she inherited her grandmother's china.  She commissioned a painting to go in her dining room where she has the china displayed.  As soon as I get a picture of it framed and hung I'll post it.

If you're not on facebook.... you should be.

Remember "Big Pear"? Until it was purchased, it acted as bait during the shows. We found that people were oddly drawn to it. I hope that everyone who buys my paintings love them as much as the woman who bought it.... I was so happy to know big pear was going to loving home (even though her attraction to it revolved around a bizarre pregnant belly association). Anyhow, I was commissioned to do a small version:

I love when people request a painting with their favorite scripture. I'm usually given free reign of what to paint, so I think about the person & read a little more of the scripture surrounding the specific passage. What I paint usually doesn't have anything to do with the scripture, per se, but just something I feel moved to attach.

I wasn't very familiar with Song of Solomon, so this was a good nudge for me to check it out...

The Song of Solomon is a lyric poem written (by King Solomon around 965 B.C.) to extol the virtues of love between a husband and his wife. The poem clearly presents marriage as God’s design. A man and woman are to live together within the context of marriage, loving each other spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The poetry takes the form of a dialogue between a husband (the king) and his wife (the Shulamite). The book can be divided into three sections: the courtship (1:1 - 3:5); the wedding (3:6 - 5:1); and the maturing marriage (5:2 - 8:14).

I almost missed last weeks spread in the Flagpole, thankfully a friend called it to my attention. This may be my closest brush with fame (other than when that store in California bought some paintings). I took the root veggies down from the walls of Big City Bread yesterday... my month slot was up. It was an excellent show & I hope to hang some pieces there again this year. The remaining paintings are now officially up for grabs and listed on my Etsy shop.
