Please excuse my absence... I've spread myself a bit too thin lately.

Isn't fall wonderful?  I love milling around on chilly mornings in my pj's with a big cup o' coffee.  One of my favorite cool weather items that accompany my pj's are my felted wool slippers.

After college I lived with a friend from Minnesota who knitted.  She was knitting before knitting was cool.  In fact, she opened a yarn shop in Athens & taught classes, which I thought was really odd at the time.  Unfortunately, the shop didn't make it, but she was a pioneer on the Athens knitting front... there is now a successful shop that one of her previous students opened.  Anyhow, though I didn't appreciate it at the time, I am now extremely grateful for the beautiful pieces she made for me.  The slippers are o-so-warm, extremely comfortable, and make sliding around on our hardwood floors a lot of fun.  They actually make me dance every time I wear them... true story :)

Anyhow, my slippers are beginning to wear thin (after 8 years) and I've been nervous about them meeting their demise.  I was thrilled to find that there are a lot of slipper options on etsy.  Quiltery appears to have slippers that are most similar to mine.

These babies are a steal at $39.  They probably have about $20 worth of yarn in each pair & I know for a fact that they take hours on end to make.

I assure you this would be one of the best purchases you'd ever make.
Happy Fall Ya'll!

Pretty Tasty...

In a world where you can swing by the gas station or grocery store to fulfill your every foodie whim, the art of handmade is devalued & darn near obsolete.  Lollipops By Mihow isn't giving in to that.  LBM was featured on the etsy homepage today & her shop is now cleaned out.  How can you think twice about spending $10 on 6 sweet treats when they look like this:

If you still think that's pricey, think about this....
She has to:
- drive or walk to purchase high quality food items
(or order them online & pay for shipping)
- purchase packaging materials
- test recipes
- make batches of the pops
- wrap each individual pop
- take high quality photos of the pops
- edit the photos, list order on etsy
- print out & fill order
- package packaged pops for shipping
- walk or drive to post office

$10 ain't bad for all that.

I've got a situation.  I went in for a "trim" Friday and came out looking like Joan Jett.
I'm not exaggerating.  I was in denial about said situation until this a.m. when I realized those top layers are going to take about two years to grow out.  I was faced with no other option than to chop off the rat tail.  I'm now sporting the short version, which my bff pointed identified as a shag.

Maybe a few of these will help...

Wishful Thinking.

an Etsy kind of Monday....

This is a little bit disturbing, but I love it.  I also want to go back to the ocean (incase you care).
Here's the process:

 Kill fish.

Slather his body with paint & press.

An etsy kinda monday...

In keeping with the wedding theme...
Isn't this pretty?
JMG Jewelry Design has some pretty wedding accessories.
*** I also need to clarify my previous posts- these were gifts for a bride from a guest.  Meaning, I was commissioned by a wedding guest to paint an invitation they received to give back to the bride as a gift.***

an Etsy kind of Monday....

With the way things are going, Trent & I will have binoculars & bird identification books way before we're eligible for senior discounts (I always picture old people bird-watching).  We're up to 4 feeders in our small yard, we plan on getting another for hummingbirds, and I'd actually like a bird bath.  These would be more like having yard art with a hidden agenda....

An Etsy kind of Monday....

and a belated Happy Mother's Day!
My mom is pretty wonderful.  She's always here for me... no matter what she's doing, no matter what time of the day it is.  She's compassionate to all, funny, fun, generous, an incredible listener, and  an amazing grandmother.  So... in honor of her, today's etsy pick is one of her objects of affection....
(red and white mushrooms)
My search on the shrooms found these cute invites.  Check out Paper & Pigtails.  I know you'll love it!

an Etsy kind of Monday

Now this is cute......
It's a perfect day to spend too much time browsing etsy.  Carambatack Designs is a great place to start.  This unique little print is appropriate for this very rainy day in Georgia.

If you didn't already know, I love rain.  I love how it makes the inside of any house feel cozy.  I love how the landscape turns extra green.  I love the sound.  I don't even mind the humidity.
Oh, Happy Day.

an Etsy kind of Monday

I'm back!  This "job" of mine is really cramping my style- I had to work way more than I prefer to last week.  This week I'm getting back in touch with what I really do... create!

Browsing Etsy always gets me motivated.  Quiltville certainly did that & reminded me of my heritage.  I come from a long line of quilters and unfortunately I waited until it was too late to learn from my family masters.  I'm still holding out hope that I'll get motivated and learn to make my own....
