I'm not trying to brag (or maybe I am), but I've been blessed with many opportunities to travel. I've been to museums around the world. Many impressive, but (in my opinion) none compare to The National Portrait Gallery. Nope, not even the Louvre.

My brother & fam lived on the edge of Washington D.C. for a couple of years and during visits we'd take in as many sights as possible. On my last trip, we checked out the NPG. I was
spellbound from the moment we entered the building. The architecture is simply amazing.....
If the curators make a lot of money, they deserve it. The layout is brilliant and the saturated colors suck you in.

My sister-in-law's sister (got that?) did an internship at the museum, so she gave them a lot of insider tips. The best being info about the Lunder Conservation Center:

"At the Lunder Conservation Center, visitors have the unique opportunity to see conservators at work in five different laboratories and studios. The Center features floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow the public to view all aspects of conservation work— work that is traditionally done behind the scenes at other museums and conservation centers. Interactive kiosks and special displays make it easy for visitors to learn about the importance of conservation and show how to take an active role in caring for public art and monuments, as well as how to care for personal treasures at home."

This is an example of what goes down at the center. Pretty neat, huh?
