I had big plans for those 2 buckets of strawberries....
snacking, strawberry shortcake, preserves,
and a few frozen whole for good measure.
I headed to the store to buy my jars with no intention of using pectin, but this caught my eye...
No cooking, no canning. Simply cut the berries, stir, and put in a jar. It really was that simple. They keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks, but you must freeze to keep them fresh longer.
Next, I was on to my original intent- the preserves. Preserves are very different from jams... they have more of a syrup consistency. They're great on yogurt, pancakes, ice cream, etc.
I did actually "can" them, so they will keep forever.
