I got tickeled when I ran across this painting today….

It reminded me of myself as a kid.  If the glasses were 2x as big & red.  It is from the blog 'Daily Paintings by Gretchen Kelly'.  There are several artists that have "daily paintings" blogs, but upon closer examination, I realized this blog was mainly all nude paintings.  It took me back to my drawing 101 class.  I was, and am, way too immature to sit through figure drawing with a straight face.  You go into the classroom, which has a warehouse feel, sit on an awkward saddle-like chair, and face a lit stage.  We would draw on these large newspaper pads with charcol... the feeling of charcoal in my hand still makes me cringe today.  There's just something about it.  Anyhow, you're sitting there getting your stuff organized when the model walks in, strips down, and hops on stage.  The drawing segments are timed.  The models move every few minutes, so you have to roughly sketch in a hurry.  Thankfully, I never had any friends in these classes that I was close enough with to laugh out loud.  I still, 10 years later, run into one of the female models... she has no idea who I am, but I've seen her naked.

Back to Gretchen Kelly.... I just love the depth of color in her watercolors.  She also has another blog, another LOOK, that is all landscapes.
